Hi Mike,

Good day!

It is great that you have started thread # 5. Hope that we have more friends to join us. But for our experience, often some people come and then donot log in here forever. That`s the reason why I often donot want to say hello to newcomers. But how can we know whose newcomer would come here often and whose else would come and leave here forever? He He

Hope that this thread can grow quickly wz more friends sharing their happiness, their wonderful lives, their hobbies and their concerns.

Have a super day!

Congratulation Mike, your thread is so popular, you should ask Leap to make this thread move to the front, below your old thread, it will be more obvious to find.
I just leave my words in your old thread.I believe this thread will be full soon, hehe
Have a nice day!

I thought your suggest again and again. Now I decide that I don't stick this new thread in english corner any more.In my mind, it is not necessary to stick Mike's post. It is always hot.

Everybody, what is your view for my management?
the best way for life is always busy with life.

WOW~ Wonderful. I believe this new thread will still be hot swiftly.
Everyone just insists on sharing your mind with each other and improving English together. I believe our common dreams speaking and writing English fluently will come true in the near future.

JUST DO IT

Hi,Mike!

Congratulations! We will have a new thread here.Let's enjoy it ! I think you came here just a few minutes ago.

Mike,my family and I are all well.I hope you and your family are healthy.

Mike, the story I mentioned is a love story.Claire falls in love with Tony,a robot.  Larry , Claire's husband works for a comany that made robots. The robot needs to be tested out.So he brought  it home. But  Larry is absent for three weeks. The robot looks so human with smooth hair ,a deep voice but the facial expression never changes. It offers help like dressing ,shopping ,holding a party in her house......When she fell off a ladder,Tony even managed to catch her in time.... When she first saw Tony, she felt alarmed.then feeling embarrased, next admired,at last she fell in love with  Tony during her husband absence for three weeks.hehe,Very interesting.

Mike, how do you make the topic in your class,do you have the textbooks? Are they all Chinese? How is their spoken English?

Tomorrow is Saturday,we can have a good rest.

Keep well,my friend.Have a lovely weekend!

Mary

Hi Fanda

I am very happy that you found the new thread. I agree with you that it is more convenient to see it at the top of the page. I hope that Leap will be able to do that.

Thanks for explaining about the tax rate. We have some similar things in the US. Certain amounts of income are exempt from taxes. I hope that this new decision will put more money in the hands of those that will benefit most.

I am also interested in the rural areas, although I know little about them. In the US, much of the agriculture is done on huge farms. Productivity is much better. Part of this is because the land in many parts is quite flat. So huge machines can be used that improve the amount of crops that grow and reduce the number of workers that are needed. It is still difficult to be a small family farmer because the competition from the huge companies keeps produce prices quite low.  Anyway, I hope that the best solutions can be found to improve the standard of living for so many.

I hope that all is well with you. As always, I really enjoyed our conversation.

Have a lovely day.

Hi Superboy

Great to see you here!

I agree. It is such a nice experience for us to share so many thoughts and feelings while continuing to work on English skills. I am sure that we will continue in the days and years to come.

Have a wonderful evening.

Hi Mary

This is really an interesting story! In the movie Bicentennial Man, the robot played by Robin Williams wants to become a human. It is quite a lovely story.  Robots have been fascinating to me and to writers and movie directors for many years. There are a number of stories about robots on the TV show Star Trek. Are you familiar with that show?

I do not use a textbook in my class. Our classes are quite informal. I have tried some textbooks in the past, but did not find them very useful. For each class, I prepare a number of documents which I copy for the students. Usually I will have some newspaper or magazine articles about topics that may be of interest to the students. I will also bring some quizzes or questions about things like idioms and slang.  But mostly, I open the conversations up to the students. Sometimes they will tell me about a particular problem they are having. Or sometimes they will be very interested in a news event.

My goal in class is to have them speak to me and each other in English as much as possible. I believe that each time they speak and listen, they are improving. Through our conversations, we work on vocabulary, grammar and especially pronunciation.

The majority of my students are Chinese. However, I currently have students from Korea, Japan, Mexico, Vietnam and Thailand. Over the years, we have had students from many other countries.

Have a lovely evening!
